What’s up with all that tall grass next to the church?

As you may have noticed-

The field in front of the village hall is festooned with hundreds of colorful flags, each one over a newly planted native wildflower or short grass. In the coming weeks the flags will be replaced by hundreds of beautiful flowers. The idea is to create a space that gives us an attractive spot that is both beautiful and environmentally healthy.  By providing a natural space of native plants and pollination, we will attract more birds and insects. The design will end the need for constant mowing with gas powered equipment and the attendant noise.

This will be a sanctuary that all visitors and passersby can enjoy.
